PSHE in primary schools shouldn’t just show the Tip of the Iceberg. Projects that have a lasting effect go…

BEYOND THE SURFACE
TIP OF THE ICEBERG THEATRE COMPANY DO JUST THAT
Live performances with accompanying workshops

Meeting UK PSHE Association guidelines for KS 1 & 2

The ‘Beyond the Surface’ programme offers students the chance to explore difficult and often complex topics and issues in a safe and open environment. Through engaging, entertaining and informative activities and sessions pupils get involved, learn and remember!

We have a range of projects on offer. Some are targeted at specific year groups whilst other shows are suitable for the whole school together:

For Older Years (5 and 6)
“Beyond the Surface”
Full of characters with fast costume changes, entertaining scenes and thought-provoking storylines.

Suitable for audiences of up to 120 students

Our live theatre performances are about a fly on the wall documentary showing many sides to an issue to get pupils thinking and talking. The play is made up of clips from our programme, the reactions of different people watching it, as well as spoof T.V. shows and adverts. The format is fun for the pupils to watch, however it also gives the opportunity to explore many different characters, ideas and opinions, providing something all pupils can relate to and learn from.

The shows are approximately 20 minutes long and are designed to be followed by interactive workshops. All the projects cover “Health and Wellbeing” “Relationships” and “Living in the wider world”. The workshops can be adapted to focus on key issues for your school.

Titles and topics include:
‘Bullied Britain’ – Bullying and friendship, the causes and solutions.
